Psalm 148:14 A People Near Unto Him
This verse reminds me of when Moses went up to the mountain to spend time with the Father. He was the only one allowed to meet with God. Likewise, in those days, only the priests were allowed to go into the holiest of holies and have communion with the Father.
Jesus came and through Him we are now allowed communion with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This is a wonderful thing!! The full impact of this miracle hit me hard today as I contemplated my relationship with my husband. I missed Marvin desperately today and felt a deep sadness that our time together has been short. We are both so busy that it seems our time together is minimal. I realized God feels this way towards us when we do not spend time with Him. He feels deeply saddened.
We have such a tremendous privilege to draw near to God through Jesus! Every time we choose to serve rather than worship, to sleep rather than pray, to fill our minds and thoughts with all the other clutter that the world has for us, to do other things rather than spend time with the Father, we deeply sadden the trinity. I am not suggesting that we should lock ourselves in our prayer closet. God has things for each of us to do including having fun and enjoying life. However, it is very important that we learn a balance.
As I type this, my son is next to me on his computer as well. I wonder what message I send to him in the choices I make concerning my time. We send our children a deep message by the way we live our lives. Are we so busy with church, ministry, television, and the cares of life for our children, too? Where in the grand scheme of life have we put the priority for time with God, time with our children, time with our spouse, and time with our families? I hear you loud and clear, Father. I know you want me and my family to experience this marvelous nearness of being close to you.
Ps 61:4 I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah
