Recently, Marvin and I had dinner at the home of David and Rebecca Contreras. We had a marvelous time eating authentic, organic Mexican food. During dinner, the conversation took a turn towards David and Rebecca's meeting, dating, and wedding. They shared about the painful attacks they underwent as people came against their union. Likewise, they shared with us all the amazing things God has done through them and for the advancement of His kingdom. They even told us that several people have had to apologize for lacking spiritual maturity and God's vision concerning their union. Marvin and I were shocke that this power team had experienced so much early in their marriage and had been able to recover. I was especially shocked that David's people could have been so cruel and against Rebecca. Little did Marvin and I know that their story would be almost prophetic, line for line, with our very own.
The very next day Marvin and I would enter into the most dificult challenge of our relationship thus far. It is hard when people that are supposed to love you come against the one you love and God has chosen for you. I will avoid writing the details here to avoid hurting the people that were involved. It is sufficient to say that God was faithful in giving Marvin additional confirmation and strength to overcome.
That evening, Pastor Bud Orrell approached us and asked permission to pray for us. Neither one of us had shared the events of the previous weeks with him. However, he prayed exactly concerning the attack coming against us by these specific people. He urged us to love them and pray for them because they would come outside of God's protection for challenging what God was doing in us. "You both are anointed together in God's service." Bud spoke so many other things over our life, each marvelous thing confirming what God was doing, what God had spoken, and the fact that we are supposed to be together because God brought us together. God is good always and never allows a chalenge without providing help.
