Why does life have to hurt so much?
Little girl prays for a help that never seems to come.
A woman seeks understanding and receives laughter and scorn.
Every breath I take fills me with deeper loneliness.
My lament is great and I don't know what to do.
Where do I run; where do I turn.
God is great; God is good.
And we all pretend that life is well.
All the while living in the shadows of our broken hearts.
Darkness and despair.
A happiness that seems so close;
Yet eludes my reach.
So hard to resist
The desire to just stop breathing
Sometimes I wonder why my heart continues to exist
